2020-2021 Letter from the Editor
Dear Community,
It is with humility and hopeful anticipation that I accept the role as the editor of MIT’s out of frame publication – an online student-run magazine featuring all things untold, unseen, and forgotten. The tumultuous events of the past months have challenged us to confront our disciplinary history and to reconsider the stories we tell and the realities we perpetuate. We are being asked to re-think what we know, what we value, and how we work. I have been inspired by the response of members in the MIT community who have begun the work of bringing together voices from the bottom up. I take on this position in hopes to continue the important work started by out of frame’s co-founders: April Gao and Ginevra D’Agostino, who insightfully initiated this space for candid expression. I would like to thank the out of frame Editorial Board for their input in guiding this venture, our contributors, as well as the generous support provided by MIT's faculty and staff.
I invite each of you to support out of frame through your readership, discussion and contribution. Please join us in considering topics related to thinking and making from a variety of perspectives including identity, food and culture, memory, and landscape, just to name a few. I am looking forward to working with both current and future columnists to cultivate this dynamic space as we embark on this strange but hopeful start to the semester.
Yours truly,
Ana McIntosh (Editor 2020-2021)
